Amber Inclusions from Myanmar – Windows into an Ancient World
For over 99 million years, Burmese amber has preserved traces of a vanished ecosystem.

MacroAmber – Highlighting the Scientific and Aesthetic Value of Burmese Amber
At MacroAmber, each specimen is documented through high-quality macro and micro photography to reveal the fine structures, colors and morphology of inclusions trapped in resin nearly 100 million years ago.
Over time, this growing collection will form a comprehensive reference work that illustrates the remarkable diversity of organisms preserved in Burmese amber, from insects and arachnids to plants, fungi and even reptiles.
Many inclusions are identified not only at the family level but often down to genus or even species, providing both researchers and collectors with a unique scientific and visual resource.
All specimens shown are part of a private, non-commercial collection and are not for sale.

The Fascinating World of Burmese Amber
Burmese amber originates from the Cretaceous period, a time when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth.
This makes it far older than Baltic or Dominican amber, which formed after the extinction of the dinosaurs.
What makes Burmese amber truly extraordinary is its exceptional diversity, with thousands of inclusions representing insects, arachnids, plants, fungi and even small vertebrates.
Only a small fraction of these inclusions are preserved in such clarity that fine structures like hairs or micro details can be seen.
Most specimens appear dark or opaque due to natural heating processes that occurred over millions of years within the amber-bearing deposits.
To find a single well-preserved inclusion often requires examining dozens, sometimes hundreds of pieces.
MacroAmber presents those rare specimens that combine scientific value and aesthetic perfection.
This growing collection documents not only the immense diversity of life from the Cretaceous period but also the exceptional preservation that makes Burmese amber one of nature’s most remarkable treasures.
