Remarks:
Gelastocoridae belong to the Nepomorpha, a group of true bugs with aquatic ancestors. Unlike most water bugs, toad bugs became secondarily adapted to life on land and along the margins of freshwater habitats. Modern representatives are predators that hunt small invertebrates.
