Hymenoptera – Wasp Biting a Spider (Wespe beißt eine Spinne)
-
Collection Number:
KA127/CAB
-
Inclusion Size:
Wasp: Body length: 2.4 mm
-
Amber Size:
19 x 15 x 3 mm
-
Age:
Around 100 million years (Cretaceous period)

Location:
Myanmar
Remarks:
A wasp biting into the abdomen of a spider. The spider's relaxed leg position suggests that it may already have been immobilized. The scene may show parasitic behavior: some wasps paralyze their prey and lay an egg on or inside it. After hatching, the wasp larva feeds on the paralyzed host.
